DEI Committee

The Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce DEI Committee has been hard at work?most recently through on-site visits to two local organizations that are leading the way in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

These visits offered powerful insights into how businesses are actively fostering more inclusive workplaces and driving meaningful change in our community.

👏 A big thank you to LoveALatte and MCA Senior Aduly Day Center for who welcoming us and sharing your journey.

LoveALatte Coffee was established as a nonprofit pop-up coffee shop in 2018.  They are a job training opportunity for adults with special needs in Kankakee County. Interns receive hands on training in customer service, money management, beverage preparation, among other skills related to future successful employment. Mission: To provide post high school job
training to young adults with special needs in  Kankakee County.  Vision: LoveALatte is the job training hub for adults with special needs who have the goal of securing employment in Kankakee County. Value Statement: EVERYONE can learn, EVERYONE can work, EVERYONE is a valuable member of society

Founded in 2023, MCA Senior Adult Day Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making every day meaningful for seniors and their families in the Kankakee community. Founder, Alicia Kleinert, recognized a growing need: caregivers often face overwhelming challenges when supporting loved ones who are aging or living with chronic illnesses. With healthcare, assisted living, and skilled nursing costs rising rapidly, families deserve more affordable, flexible options to ensure their loved ones remain safe, engaged, and well cared for. MCA Senior Adult Day Center was created to meet this need ? offering a welcoming, supportive environment where seniors can thrive during the day and caregivers can find peace of mind.
