Ambassador Spotlight: Angelina Gear
|
Angelina Gear is the Sales & Marketing Manager for Visit Kankakee County, where she helps showcase the area’s unique attractions, events, and local businesses to visitors near and far. Passionate about storytelling and community building, Angelina thrives on connecting people with the places and experiences that make Kankakee County special. Beyond her professional role, she proudly serves as Secretary for the Kankakee Valley Park District Board of Commissioners and is actively involved in numerous community initiatives.

- Preserve Route 66 Legacy Business Grant Fund
- Description: “The Preserve Route 66 Legacy Business Grant Fund provides financial support to businesses to preserve historic places and spur economic development along the Route 66 corridor, with an emphasis on projects that illuminate the narratives of communities whose places and stories have been historically underrepresented.” “Projects must be located in a community, neighborhood or tribal land along the Route 66 corridor in the following states: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, or California. While businesses do not need to be located directly on Route 66, they should demonstrate geographic or thematic connections to Route 66.”
- Award Range: $5,000 to $10,000
- Deadline: September 30, 2025

- Cornerstone Grant by Square
- Description: To be eligible: “Current Square seller, with at least 6 months of ongoing transactions.”; small business according to SBA definitions; annual revenue under $2 million; fewer than 20 employees; and “Applicants must be legal US residents and their business must not currently be in bankruptcy or named as a defendant in an active lawsuit.”
- Award Range: $10,000 and more
- Deadline: September 30, 2025

Annual Gala Nominations are now OPEN!

Click the link to nominate your favorite local business in the categories of: Technology and Innovation, New Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Not-For-Profit Organization of the Year, and Manufacturer of the Year.
One nomination per business will be considered. Once all Business of the Year nominations are received, a special selection committee will carefully review each submission and choose the winners. The recipients will be announced and celebrated at our upcoming Annual Gala!
