About Us
The Veterans Assistance Commission was established in Kankakee County in 1987 to serve low-income, homeless, disabled, at-risk veterans and their families. Our mission is to serve veterans with mutual respect, dignity and acceptance through innovative and collaborative to provide tools for positive life changes.
*Through the VACKC financial assistance programs we can assist with rent/mortgage, utilities, and daily necessities.
*We provide transportation services to Hines VA Medical Center.
*We have four VA Accredited Veteran Service Officers on staff to help with disability, pension, burial, and healthcare claims.
*The VACKC staff also serve as a part of the core team for the Veterans Treatment Court for the 21st Judicial Circuit.
