Director, Continuing Education & Business Partnerships

Provides leadership for customized training and continuing education offerings for business, industry, public service, government, and the community. Builds relationships with local business and industry partners.   Provides leadership and administrative oversight of the day-to-day operations of the College’s Welcome Center.
 

Examples of Duties

A. Provides business, industry, public service, and governmental agencies with customized training and professional development opportunities for staff. Designs and develops, in consultation with both internal and external colleagues, workshops, seminars, courses, programs, and other specialized offerings that meet the needs of the Continuing Education and Business Partnerships clientele. Recruits and hires trainers, develops, and coordinates training schedules. In collaboration with Marketing department, manages an effective marketing campaign and social media presence.

B. Create and oversees the development of annual and focused marketing strategies to further the purposes of Continuing Education programs. Provides leadership in coordinating outreach efforts for Continuing Education and Business Partnerships.  

C. Assists in the development of grant initiatives, particularly as related to corporate and continuing education, workforce training, scholarships, and entrepreneurial opportunities.  

D. Develops and monitors the budgets of Continuing Education and Business Partnerships programs with emphasis on effective management with recovery of college expenditures when appropriate.

E. Participates in external community and State meetings to help determine local and Statewide training initiatives. 

F. Supervises the recruitment, selection, performance, and evaluation of assigned staff. Recruits, screens, and hires part-time instructors and provides appropriate supervision, training, coordination, and evaluation of part-time instructors hired for programs and workshops. 

G. Utilizes appropriate ICCB procedures for developing and offering courses, programs, and seminars. Conducts a program review every five years for the Office of Continuing Education and Business Partnerships. 

H. Provides leadership and administrative oversight of KCC’s Welcome Center. 

I. Seeks out continuing education provider approvals from state entities, associations, and organizations.  Completes approval provider application to ensure continuing education units are awarded for specific courses.  Oversees that the appropriate year-end course information and audits to these groups. 

J. Works in collaboration with faculty to establish business relationships that will support work-based learning opportunities for the credit division. 

Minimum Qualifications

A. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred in educational administration, higher and continuing education, an academic discipline, or a related area. 

B. Work experience in the business/corporate sector desirable. 

C. Five years of administrative experience, preferably in a higher education setting, or three years experience for candidates with master’s degrees required. 

D. Community college experience preferred. 

E. Experience in curriculum development preferred. 

F. A highly developed writing skill required. 

G. Experience with computer data management and report development preferred. 

H. Qualified candidate must be functionally literate in reading, writing, and computation skills as well as computer literate or willing to learn.
