Starting Pay: $22.25 an hour
Educational Requirements:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Event Management, or related field.
Purpose:
The Coordinator of Special Events & Public Relations plays a key role in advancing the organization’s mission by planning and executing fundraising events and other special events, managing public relations efforts including social media and direct mail, and event communication coordination including emails and text messaging utilizing our technology platform. This position is responsible for creating positive community engagement, strengthening donor and stakeholder relationships, and ensuring consistent, professional communication across all platforms.
Experience Requirements:
Must have at least 1-3 years of experience in event/fundraising coordination, communications, or public relations preferably in a non-profit or related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills; Excellent organizational and time-management abilities; Comfortable working with the public, donors, and community partners; Proficient in Microsoft Office, email platforms, and social media; ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Constituent Relationship Management (CRM)/Data management platform experience required; prefer online fundraising experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -- MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following list highlights the essential responsibilities of the position but is not comprehensive.
- Coordinate, plan and execute all special events with the assistance of the Development Director (i.e. Brunch Auction, Golf Outing, and Fall Festivals), including using independent judgment in managing the budget, expenses and revenues. Recruits and coordinates committee volunteers for special events with the Development Director. Manage event logistics including timelines, vendors, volunteers, budgets, and on-site coordination. Works closely with the event committee which includes Manor Board members. Assist with sponsorship outreach, donor stewardship, and post-event follow-up. Serves as a scribe for all meetings related to the event committees. Maintain event calendars, contact lists, and documentation
- Track sponsorships, RSVPs, and attendance for events.
- Coordinates all public relations and social media communication for the Manor. Support storytelling efforts that highlight the mission, programs, and impact. Maintain positive relationships with local media, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Composes letters, emails and texts related to fundraising special events and appeals with Director approval. Help increase visibility and engagement through strategic communication
- Utilizes our current CRM/database tool to maintain and update confidential donations and donor records in conjunction with special events and appeals as needed.
- Acts as assistant editor in preparation of Good Shepherd Manor publications.
- Works, as assigned, with Development Director on researching and drafting appropriate grant proposals.
- Assists with coordination of community education activities, tours of Good Shepherd Manor and any other programs intended to familiarize the public with the work of Good Shepherd Manor.
- Represents the Manor as needed in support of community outreach efforts at events as needed such as local Chamber events, local Festivals, Rotary, or other opportunities.
- Maintains familiarity with the current projects of the Manor to further his/her fundraising efforts.
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
This position requires a person to actively represent and market Good Shepherd Manor in public; to actively plan and implement special events; to communicate both verbally and in writing with agency staff and board members, residents and their families, prospective donors, Foundations, organizations, and political entities; to drive a vehicle, walk, sit, stand, lift, carry, and operate a computer.
