July 4 Music and Fireworks

   Music and fireworks will once again fill the air on July 4 at Kankakee Community College.

   Gates will open at 3 p.m., and the Kankakee Valley Youth Symphony will play at 5:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies to honor veterans will follow the first concert. After the formal opening, the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra will play. The evening will end with a spectacular fireworks show. In the case of inclement weather, the concerts will be indoors. Food concessions will be available starting at 4 p.m. Games and activities for kids will be from 3 to 6:30 p.m.

   Admission is $15 a carload.

   KCC’s grounds are handicapped accessible and picnicking is permitted. Concertgoers should bring chairs and blankets; no seating is provided. Ample indoor restrooms are available. Personal fireworks, including sparklers, are not permitted.

   Proceeds from concessions and admissions will benefit the symphony and youth symphony. This year's concerts are underwritten by Riverside Medical Center. The fireworks show is sponsored by the city of Kankakee.
